Hello.

I, uhh... accidentally started a very big project and could use some help. :XD: I know it's going somewhere, but I'm not sure if it will actually GET there. Well, anyway...

Keep in mind that it's still a sketch, though.
Click on the pentagonal button to the left for better definition! [NOTE: this may lag]

Here's some basic information about the [yet unnamed] race and their home:

They are an advanced species (about 600-800 years more technologically advanced than humans) and come from a [yet unnamed] planet orbiting around a [yet unnamed] red giant (maybe a binary system for fanciness' sake, dunno yet; maybe something different altogether) binary star (totally plausible if the stars fulfill a set of conditions, which they do). The gravity there is a bit weaker than ours (say, 0.66G), so they are taller than humans (about 2.5 m; or 100").

They are peaceful (for comparison, I wouldn't really call humans peaceful), omnivorous, and their biggest achievements are in science and art.

They have bioluminescent parts, divided into three areas (shapes scattered around: head and neck; chest and arms; belly, legs and tail) - all these areas are used independently, can change color and flicker independently. All this is used for communication enhancement (among other things), along with elaborate chirp-like sounds, which are the primary means of communication.

Each one of them has different markings and colors - there is literally no such thing as two visually identical, or similar individuals. The bioluminescent parts are also in different shapes, but always in roughly the same places.

These markings and colors are not dependent on the parents' colors; they are totally random.

Also, they do not know the concept of gender - they are all agender, or bigender (or whatever you want to call it); no males and females whatsoever. So... coming up with their reproductive organs (and, uhh... process) is gonna be quite a challenge. I'm thinking about doing something somewhat similar to marsupials.

That's almost all the basic info I have for now. I hope it's interesting for more people than just me and my brother. :XD: I also hope you'll be able to give me some feedback and possible ideas. I actually would LOVE some questions about this species, as they would REALLY help me come up with facts! :dummy:

I start too many projects. :paranoid:

Love how it looks.
Your character reminded me of Jar Jar Binks... somewhat.

Also the info your looking for reminded me of the 2008 game Spore.

I don't know if the game Spore could help develop your character or answer any questions but an interest in creature development and planetary questions could be explored using that game.  Particularly the later stages in a creatures advancement.  The game can be pretty simplistic so it wouldn't be hard to pick up.
There is cellular phase, beginning creature phase, advanced creature phase, tribal stage, a civilized stage, and a planetary space phase.  Incase you haven't played it.

Over a period of time when a species gains advancement and evolves there are primitive forms of that said creature.  For this species to survive there had to be a food web.  You say they are advanced compared to us.  Humans use their hands, feet, and teeth for forms of defence.  What can your species do to keep its self alive in a fight?  I ask because in the game I mentioned inorder for your creature to get smarter they need to have a communication skill/defensive system to win in the battle against other intelligent species.  The chirp sounds. Are they used in a manner of defence?  Like a ultrasonic sound, art is one of the main achievments I'd only assume that their singing capability is phenomenal.

What kind of unique skills does this species have?  Ex: jumping, running, swimming, underwater breathing, flying.  Anything specific to heat or cold.  Also for each individual.  Can they develop skills like humans can from an extensive amount of training in that specific field?  Or is their science developed to a point where they can inherit everything with the use of DNA manipulation?

I'd like to know what each bodily feature is meant for.
The duel sets of eyes? Why are the bottom ones larger than the top ones? With the position of the eyes do they look around like birds (sporadically seeing only from one side of the head at a time) or like most mammals.  It appears that the bottom eyes are more like birds and the top are similar to humans. The long droopy ears?  The various sets of antennae on the head and face?  What is the purpose of the long neck?  Why a small chest vs a broad one?  What are the spikes on the hind quarters used for?  The use of spread toes and signature leg pattern (you always use) shows that they would be excelent runners.  Is the leaf pattern on the tail a significance, do they live in tree like structures and use the tail as an ancient form of camouflage?  The various finger sizes.  There is a possibility they live in a dry enviornment due to the long nose structure.  Any unique muscle patterns?  I thought of a normal human vs a body builder.

If they explored other plannets would they use space gear like humans do or do they have a special gland that allow them to breath certain elements.  Like if they were from a your unnamed planet and explored Earth would they have problems breathing.  Just now I had an image of the movie Battleship (2012) when the alien race appeard on Earth they had a specific helmet that protected them from our planets sun rays.

If you were going with Marcupials would you possibly giving them a pouch?  Marcupials don't lay eggs but could this species be born from an Egg?

I'm curious about the agender/bigender matter.  Have you had any ideas toward reproduction?

Id like to know if their solar system is similar to ours or a single goldilocks planet?
